Vermont has always been a leader in the fight to ensure affordable, accessible reproductive health care for all. But today, 50 years after Roe v. Wade, the right to reproductive liberty is under threat in communities across our country. That’s why as Lieutenant Governor I was proud to support Proposal 5 which would enshrine reproductive liberty in our state constitution. But as abortion bans in Texas and elsewhere have showed, Republican attacks on reproductive liberty are gaining ground – and they have cover from the Supreme Court.
In Congress, I’ll stand up to conservative attacks and protect the rights of every Vermonter and American, by fighting to:
- Pass legislation to codify Roe V. Wade into federal law.
- Strengthen protections for Title X funding for women’s healthcare providers.
- Repeal the Hyde Amendment, a provision which bans the use of federal funds to pay for abortion.
- Address our nation’s concerningly high maternal mortality rate, especially among Black women.
